Fed's Harker said he supports one rate hike at the end of the year
Fed's Harker said he supports one rate hike at the end of the year, in an interview on the Fox Business Network, echoing comments he made in late September from Dublin. He would have voted to lift rates in September, he added. Note he is not a voter this year, but he does rotate into that status in 2017. He wouldn't take any meeting off the table. The economy probably has room to run, he added, repeating Chair Yellen's line from her September press conference. He views GDP growth at about trend in 2016, with some pick up over the second half of the year. The Fed is starting to see some acceleration in wage growth. He is watching weak business investment, something the FOMC has continued to mention in its policy statements.
