eBay sale of MercadoLibre stake adds financial flexibility, says Baird
Baird analyst Colin Sebastian said eBay's (EBAY) sale of a majority of its investment stake in MercadoLibre (MELI) will provide eBay with both financial and strategic flexibility. The analyst believes the capital will allow eBay to increase share buybacks, make strategic acquisitions, or expand more aggressively in Latin America under a new strategic agreement with MercadoLibre. Sebastian maintained his Outperform rating and $35 price target on eBay shares.

eBay stake sale creates 'large overhang' for MercadoLibre, says Citi
Citi analyst Lucio Aldworth sees several reasons why eBay's (EBAY) sale of a majority of its stake in MercadoLibre (MELI) creates a "large overhang" on the latter's shares. Namely, he believes the market has always seen eBay as a plausible candidate to take over MercadoLibre, but he thinks this action should remove any M&A premium currently priced into the stock. Additionally, Aldworth notes that eBay said its commitment to Latin America e-commerce remains unchanged, which could mean it will eventually enter the market directly, intensifying competition for MercadoLibre. Aldworth keeps a Sell rating on MercadoLibre shares, which are down 8% in early trading to $168.40.

Street estimates too high for casual dining sector in 2017, says Canaccord
Canaccord analyst Lynne Collier lowered same store sales estimates on most of the casual dining sector ahead of Q3 earnings. The analyst said September comps were worse than expected and that sales trends in Q3 were similar to Q2. Collier also believes 2017 will see negative comps as oversupply remains an issue, the inflation gap will continue, and there will be a reduced benefit from lower gasoline prices. As such, the analyst believes Street estimates are too high for the sector for next year. Names in the casual dining space include BJ's Restaurants (BJRI), Buffalo Wild Wings (BWLD), Cheesecake Factory (CAKE), Brinker (EAT), Red Robin (RRGB) and Texas Roadhouse (TXRH).

The analyst, who calls Core his top small cap pick and put a $120 price target on the stock, said that the company's "breadth of exposures across geography and the capex life cycle is unmatched." 4. William Blair wonders if Manitowoc could be next target for Zoomlion
After Zoomlion walked away from Terex (TEX), William Blair analyst Lawrence De Maria questioned if Manitowoc (MTW) could be the next target. Zoomlion noted in its release that it "will continue to seek strategic opportunities" and further "procure its strategic transformation and industrial upgrading," De Maria told investors Friday afternoon in a research note. "While an offer from Zoomlion is far from certain, long Manitowoc could be an opportunity for speculative investors," the analyst contends. He points out that a 10 times EBITDA multiple implies a $6.50 per share price for Manitowoc. A "less realistic" 11 times multiple implies a $7.50 per share price for Manitowoc, he adds. De Maria listed Joy Global (JOY) and AGCO (AGCO) as other potential strategic acquisitions for off-shore buyers looking to expand technology.
