Tesla CEO says Autopilot 8.1 coming in 'about three weeks'
Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted Saturday that Autopilot 8.1 will see its initial launch in "about three weeks and it will get rolled out incrementally in monthly releases." The news follows an October 19 Tesla announcement "that, as of today, all Tesla vehicles produced in our factory - including Model 3 - will have the hardware needed for full self-driving capability," though the company cautioned at the time that "before activating the features enabled by the new hardware, we will further calibrate the system using millions of miles of real-world driving to ensure significant improvements to safety and convenience. While this is occurring, Teslas with new hardware will temporarily lack certain features currently available on Teslas with first-generation Autopilot hardware." Musk's tweet Saturday was made in response to an apparent buyer of the new Model S, who said he was "upset that it has all these missing features." Reference Link
