On The Fly: Pre-market Movers

HIGHER: GoPro (GPRO), up 3% after announcing a restructuring, reporting that its week of Black Friday camera unit sales were up more than 35% year-over-year at leading U.S. retailers and saying Tony Bates will depart his position as president of the company at the end of the year... At Home Group (HOME), up 4% after being upgraded to Buy from Neutral at Goldman. ENERGY STOCKS SURGING: Kinder Morgan (KMI), up 5% amid the general strength in energy stocks and after the government of Canada announced a "pipeline plan" that included the approval of the company's Trans Mountain Expansion Project. Many other energy related names are trading higher as OPEC meeting expectations drive a spike in oil prices, with Atwood Oceanics (ATW), Whiting Petroleum (WLL), Noble Corporation (NE), Continental Resources (CLR), Marathon Oil (MRO), Hess (HES), Transocean (RIG), Halliburton (HAL) and Weatherford (WFT) among the winners. UP AFTER EARNINGS: Splunk (SPLK), up 8%. LOWER: Arrowhead (ARWR), down 60% after the company announced that it would discontinue all of its current clinical-stage programs three weeks after the FDA placed lead asset ARC-520 for hepatitis B virus on clinical hold. DOWN AFTER EARNINGS: Autodesk (ADSK), down 3%.

Splunk 'blowout' results 'nothing short of impressive,' says William Blair
William Blair analyst Bhavan Suri called Splunk's quarterly results an "exceptional performance" that was "'nothing short of impressive" and said its calculated billings reflect very healthy business momentum. While some investors may have concerns about the deceleration in short-term deferred revenue growth, Suri attributes this to the company's accelerating cloud business, noting that most cloud contracts have smaller initial deal sizes and annual billing arrangements. Suri, who thinks Splunk is seeing solid traction across core use-cases, premium applications, and the cloud, keeps an Outperform rating on the stock.

Autodesk checks mixed, says Wedbush
After conducting checks with resellers, Wedbush analyst Steve Koenig thinks that Autodesk's net subscriber additions were "strong" in Q3, while its revenue outlook for 2H16 "looks middling." The analyst adds that the company's Q3 revenue appears to have been "mostly in-line with muted...expectations," while there were "isolated reports" of November beginning weaker than expected. He raised his price target on the shares to $70 from $60 and reiterates a Neutral rating.

DOWNGRADE

On The Fly: Top five analyst downgrades
Catch up on today's top five analyst downgrades with this list compiled by The Fly: 1. Autodesk (ADSK) downgraded to Sell from Neutral at Rosenblatt, as analyst Kirk Adams believes the shares are "priced for perfection" through fiscal year 2020. 2. Pacific Crest analyst Rob Owens downgraded Imperva (IMPV) to Sector Weight from Overweight, saying the company's fundamentals continue to be challenged. The analyst sees a "limited number" of strategic suitors for Imperva and thinks the current share price could prevent "meaningful upside" should a buyer step in. Owens coupled the downgrade with upgrades this morning of Barracuda (CUDA) and Fortinet (FTNT) to Overweight. 3. ManTech (MANT) downgraded to Underperform from Market Perform at Wells Fargo, with analyst Ed Caso citing valuation. Caso believes the shares are "ahead of themselves" and he keeps a $33-$34 price target range for the name. 4. Signet Jewelers (SIG) downgraded to Neutral from Overweight at JPMorgan by analyst Anne Samuel, citing fundamental headwinds after the company lowered its 2017 outlook. 5. Seaport Global analysts led by Mike Kelly downgraded Rice Energy (RICE) and Marathon Oil (MRO), each to Neutral from Buy, citing valuation. This list is just a portion of The Fly's full analyst coverage. To see The Fly's full Street Research coverage, click here.
