Facebook pricing feedback positive, Twitter's negative, says Cleveland Research
Cleveland Research analyst Kevin Rottinghaus said Facebook's (FB) pricing appears to be increasing while feedback on Twitter's (TWTR) pricing is "universally negative in our research" with budgets moving elsewhere. The analyst said he remains positive on Facebook, adding that Twitter remains his "least favorite idea" in the digital advertising channel. Rottinghaus added that he is hearing "mixed" feedback on Google (GOOG), with some concerns over competition and continued rising price and costs in Search.

Facebook checks mixed, says Evercore ISI
"Many" of Evercore's agency checks indicate that demand for Facebook ads exceeded supply. according to Evercore analyst Ken Sana. However, engagement on the website has risen less than expected amid competition from Snapchat, although this trend is having little if any impact on ad trends, the analyst stated. Sana nonetheless lowered his 2017 estimates for Facebook slightly to reflect the trend. Sana, however, remains upbeat on the company's near-term and longer term fundamentals and expects its opex guidance to be "manageable." He reiterates a Buy rating on the stock.

Citi replaces Amazon with Alphabet as top U.S. Internet pick
Citi analyst Mark May replaced Amazon.com (AMZN) with Alphabet (GOOGL, GOOG) as his top stock pick in the U.S. Internet space. Recent channel checks suggest Alphabet's core search growth may not slow as much as most are forecasting, which could drive upside to Q4 and 2017 estimates, May tells investors in a research note. He believes Pixel handset sales could also drive revenue upside. Facebook (FB) is May's second pick in the sector with Amazon moving to third.

Google Home Service Ads expansion could increase sector risk, says Roth Capital

The analyst believes Google's move, along with recent announcements by Facebook (FB) and Amazon (AMZN) further validates the space, but also increases competitive risk to Angie's List (ANGI) and Yelp (YELP).

Oclaro a 'very logical fit' as takeover target for Finisar, says Stifel
After Finisar (FNSR) revised its private placement convertible debt offering, Stifel analyst Patrick Newton noted the potential for the company to use the proceeds for acquisitions, but added he has "no knowledge of M&A activity under consideration" by the company. Weighing in on potential targets, Newton said he sees Oclaro (OCLR) as a "very logical fit" for Finisar, adding that he assumes an acquisition of Oclaro could get done at a price of $13 per share. Applied Optoelectronics (AAOI) could also be a logical candidate, but its chief product has "amongst the lowest barriers to entry," stated Newton. He added that he does not see NeoPhotonics (NPTN) as a logical target, citing an overlap in core competencies and its focus on components compared to Finisar's focus on modules.

Needham remains bullish on Optical Sector
Needham analyst Alex Henderson believes the "Optical Super Cycle" is going full steam ahead and strongly reiterates his bullish view on the Optical Sector. Finisar (FNSR), Fabrinet (FN), II-VI (IIVI), GigPeak (GIG) and MACOM (MTSI) are also strong recommendations, he added. Further, Henderson believes Acacia Communications (ACIA) has "way overcorrected," and thinks it can rebound on a stronger Q4 outlook and upside to 2017 numbers.

NeoPhotonics price target lowered to $16 from $20 at Piper Jaffray
Piper Jaffray analyst Troy Jensen said NeoPhotonics reported "solid" growth for its 100G portfolio but noted that a bankrupt channel partner caused its revenue and earnings to fall short of expectations. Jensen still forecasts 25% year-over-year revenue growth for the company in FY17, but off of a lower FY16 base, leading him to cut his price target to $16 from $20. He keeps an Overweight rating on NeoPhotonics shares, as he expects a "more meaningful ramp in 100G" in 2017.
