The stock closed Friday down 14%, or 74c, to $4.55 following the retailer's Q1 earnings report. The analyst says his thesis of sustainable outperformance versus the peer group has not transpired. Penny's same-same-sales in Q1 were in-line with the weakness experienced by peers and its cost savings were limited, Trussell tells investors in a research note. The analyst this morning also upgraded Coach (COH) to Buy from Hold. 05/15/17 DBAB 05/15/17 UPGRADE Target $54 DBAB Buy Coach upgraded to Buy from Hold at Deutsche Bank Deutsche Bank analyst Paul Trussell upgraded Coach (COH) to Buy saying the acquisition of Kate Spade (KATE) provides a buying opportunity. The analyst is confident in management's ability to execute citing the success of Coach's turnaround thus far. Trussell expects the Kate Spade deal to be "highly accretive." Occidental Petroleum (OXY) upgraded to Neutral from Underweight at JPMorgan with analyst Phil Gresh citing valuation with the shares. 5. Depomed (DEPO) upgraded to Neutral from Underweight at Piper Jaffray with analyst David Amsellem saying the multiple is now more appropriate following the post-earnings selloff. The maker of luxury accessories closed the trading day up 49c to $45.20. The company's exposure to cable and "outsized" subscriber declines at ESPN "have again become a focal point in investors' minds," Nollen tells investors in a research note. Further, the analyst, while admitting he loves Disney's film, parks and consumer products businesses, does not see catalysts at these units. He believes the shares, which closed yesterday at $107.98, are trading at fair value. 05/10/17 FBCO 05/10/17 NO CHANGE Target $125 FBCO Outperform Disney on track for 2018 acceleration, says Credit Suisse Credit Suisse analyst Omar Sheikh notes that Disney beat Q2 EPS expectations driven by Studio Entertainment, reiterated 2017/18 guidance and raised the planned 2017 share buyback. While the pace of change in the core Media Networks business will remain top of mind, the analyst argues Disney has the assets and strategy to sustain industry-leading returns and free cash flow growth long-term. He reiterates an Outperform rating and $125 price target on the shares. 05/10/17 RBCM 05/10/17 NO CHANGE RBCM Disney outlook positive despite ESPN woes, says RBC Capital After Disney reported higher than expected EPS but lower than expected revenue amid an acceleration in ESPN subscriber losses, RBC Capital analyst Steven Cahall says that the strength of the company's assets aside from cable prevent the weakness of the latter business from posing "a grave threat" to the company. He thinks that the company's park and resorts and studio businesses can generate higher than expected operating income over the next 12-24 months. He believes that the strength of the company's studio and parks businesses, along with share buybacks, make the stock attractive, and he keeps a $130 price target and an Outperform rating. 05/10/17 UBSW 05/10/17 NO CHANGE Target $130 UBSW Buy Disney weakness a buying opportunity, says UBS UBS analyst Doug Mitchelson noted Disney reported better than expected Q1 earnings but said many of its key metrics were mixed. He also noted ESPN concerns are being amplified by cord cutting fears but believes the company remains well positioned and owns the strongest balance sheet in the industry. The analyst said any weakness in Disney following its results would be a buying opportunity. Mitchelson reiterated his Buy rating and $130 price target on Disney shares.

Today though they will see the Chicago purchasing manager's report and pending home sales data. The weekly oil numbers, which are normally released on Wednesday, will be delayed until tomorrow due to the Memorial Day holiday. In early trading, Dow futures are 18 points above fair value, Nasdaq futures are 12 points above fair value and S&P futures are 2 points above fair value.
