The analyst, who would have preferred to see more evidence of proper succession planning, keeps a Neutral rating on H&R Block shares.

Analyst Mark Palmer notes that President-elect Trump has said he wants to put H&R Block out of business by simplifying the tax code. Palmer thinks that the chances of this vision becoming reality has increased significantly. Analyst Thomas Allen views the election results as a negative as it increases the risk of a simplified tax code and the potential repeal of ACA removes an industry tailwind. Allen also sees risk to margins from Refund Advances as the benefits seem to have diminished and are more commonplace.

World markets closed trading with gains for the month as investors stateside will be looking ahead to Friday's nonfarm payrolls report. Today though they will see the Chicago purchasing manager's report and pending home sales data. The weekly oil numbers, which are normally released on Wednesday, will be delayed until tomorrow due to the Memorial Day holiday. In early trading, Dow futures are 18 points above fair value, Nasdaq futures are 12 points above fair value and S&P futures are 2 points above fair value.
