Averages mixed in quiet trading as investors pore over earnings

Stock futures drifted throughout the pre-market trading session as investors sifted through the latest round of earnings reports. In addition, many investors are waiting on Apple's (APPL) report, due out after the close today, and tomorrow's conclusion of the Fed's rate setting meeting. Oil prices remain under pressure and have fallen below $43 per barrel. In morning trading, the Dow is down 13 points, the Nasdaq is up 16 points and the S&P is up 2 points.
