M&A and earnings provide strong start to week

Stock futures were higher during the pre-market trading session, leading to a higher open for the broader market, with M&A activity and optimism surrounding the current earnings season being pointed to for the early lift being seen in the market. The coming week will be the heaviest in terms of reports of the third quarter earnings season, with many of the country's bellwether tech names, including Apple (AAPL), Amazon (AMZN) and Alphabet (GOOG), reporting this week. In early trading, the Dow is up 128 points, the Nasdaq is up 37 points and the S&P is up 13 points.
