Oil rallies while equities stall

Stocks have stalled out, with the Nasdaq moving back to roughly unchanged to join the S&P near the flat line. There has been little action as the averages continue to move in a narrow trading range. As expected with the narrow range, advancing stocks are ahead of declining stocks by less than 5:4 and up volume is similarly ahead of down volume by a small margin. After beginning the day in negative territory, oil prices have reversed and are now up about 1%.
