Averages mixed as Dow leads, Nasdaq lags

The major averages remain mixed in afternoon trading, with the Dow higher, the Nasdaq lower and the S&P little changed. Declining stocks are ahead of advancing names by 5:4 while down volume is ahead of up volume by 3:2. Oil prices are higher by 1.5% while gold is seeing a bit of a rally as well in a strong session for commodities.
