2017-07-21 12:34:27 | On The Fly: ETF fund flow highlightsFund flows for the top ten creations and redemptions were in line with lower seasonal activity, with only a moderate skew toward creations. About 40% of creations were made in three S&P 500 index and sector funds (IVV, IVW, XLF). Bonds (SPDR Bloomberg Barclays High Yield Bond ETF (JNK), iShares iBoxx $ Investment Grade Corporate Bond ETF (LQD), and iShares iBoxx $ High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYG)) were nearly equally in size to the S&P 500 equities. The remainder of flows were foreign funds (VEA, EEM, IEFA) and Small Cap (IJR). On the redemptions side a little over 40% of funds outflows were from S&P 500 index and sector (SPY, Energy (XLE), Consumer Staples (XLP)), amounting to a wash against parallel creations for the week. Gold funds took a hit (GLD, GDX) as did the Russell 2000 (IWM). Remaining outflows were much smaller in scale and without much of a theme. |
