Stock futures improved dramatically during the pre-market session thanks to positive earnings reports from some of the country's largest corporations. McDonald's (MCD), Caterpillar (CAT) and DuPont (DD) all posted solid reports, offsetting post-earnings dips in United Technologies (UTX) and 3M (MMM) and pushing the Dow up triple digits at the open. Oil prices are also higher in the early going, extending their gains from yesterday. About 20 minutes into trading, the Dow is up 104 points, the Nasdaq is down 7 points and the S&P is up 7 points.
