Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster noted that Apple is hosting a special event on Wednesday, September 7. Based on the company's typical timing, he believes Apple will start selling the iPhone 7 on Friday, September 16. Expectations for the device are low so any incremental features, such as better battery life, could be positive for the stock, the analyst said. While Munster sees only "a small chance the iPhone 7 surprises positively," he thinks the 10th anniversary device next year will represent a more meaningful update and drive a "super-cycle" given the large pool of 2-3 year old device owners who may be looking to upgrade. The firm keeps an Overweight rating on Apple shares.
