Established technology names like Autodesk (ADSK) and IBM (IBM) have found more innovative ways to talk to Wall Street that make them appear "younger, fitter, and more attractive," Tiernan Ray of Barron's writes in this weekend's magazine. The jargon, however, "runs outside the normal confines of the income statement, balance sheet, and cash-flow report, and that doesn't accord with generally accepted accounting principles," Ray contends.
