JPMorgan analyst Sterling Auty views Google's (GOOG, GOOGL) announcement of a beta program for its Cloud CDN service as a competitive negative for Akamai (AKAM) in the long run. The analyst originally thought Google would keep its CDN service proprietary for use on its YouTube platform only, rather than making it available to its competitors. However, it now seems Google is ready to compete for the broader video CDN opportunity, Auty tells investors in a research note. He has a Neutral rating on Akamai.
