Craig-Hallum analyst Jeff Van Rhee said that legal agreements with carriers that may have limited Google (GOOG) from having a CDN offering competing with Akamai (AKAM) in the past may have loosened in the conversion from "Google" to "Alphabet" and he views the reported launch of the Google Cloud CDN as another headwind for Akamai. The analyst, who thinks the move marks a first step toward Google competing for some of the low end delivery needs currently served by Akamai, lowered his price target on the latter to $48 from $60 and keeps a Hold rating on Akamai shares.

The U.K. plans to hold talks this month with Apple (AAPL), Meta (META), Alphabet (GOOGL) and others to push a voluntary charter granting parents more control of social media use by young teens, Bloomberg's Ellen Milligan reports. According to people familiar with the matter, ministers want to launch a consultation later this month to gauge ways of limiting the potential harm to children caused by social media, and the proposed voluntary charter may involve tech firms agreeing to alert parents when their children are repeatedly looking up disturbing content.
