According to Canaccord analyst Mark Massaro, Abbott (ABT) CEO Miles White was initially stern in regards to Alere (ALR) on the company's earning call and overall his tone on the call was "inconsistent," but he made more positive commentary regarding Alere as the call progressed. Specifically, Massaro reads White's comments about liking Alere's products, management team and how the company competes and grows as positive signs affirming the analyst's view that the deal is likely to close at the agreed upon $56 per share price. Canaccord keeps a Buy rating on Alere shares.
