Canaccord analyst Matthew Ramsay upgraded AMD to Buy and raised its price target to $6 from $3.25. The analyst said the Zen x86 micro-architecture with 40% IPC improvement and additional significant power/performance benefits from the 28nm positions AMD once again as a viable second source in PC/notebook markets and for re-entry into the server market longer-term. Additionally, Ramsay said recent business divestitures and IP licensing provides cash to lessen balance sheet risks and VR and 4K will likely increase the gaming console refresh cycle.
