FBR Capital analyst Christopher Rolland believes the current pace of M&A in the Semiconductors space is not sustainable, but he still expects above-average rates of consolidation for the remainder of the cycle. Rolland views Atmel (ATML), Fairchild (FCS), ON Semiconductor (ON), Marvell (MRVL), NVIDIA (NVDA), Knowles (KN) and Lattice Semiconductor (LSCC) as having "financial structures and valuations most favorable for a takeover." The analyst's top three acquisition candidates for the remainder of 2015 are Atmel, Lattice and Cavium, with Applied Micro Circuits (AMCC), ARM Holdings (ARMH) and Marvell as runners-up. He puts a 25% chance of Atmel getting bought out in the next 12 months.
