Wells Fargo analyst Donald Fandetti raised his price target for American Express to $125 from $115 and reiterated an Outperform rating on the shares. The analyst notes that there has been some investor skepticism on the company's ability to hit the high-end of its 8%-10% revenue growth target for 2019, and consensus only projects 8%. That said, while the path to 10% will not be easy, he believes it is achievable and thinks the company is now operating from a position of strength, as highlighted by its recent global card fee increases.

Wells Fargo raised the firm's price target on American Express to $265 from $250 and keeps an Overweight rating on the shares. The firm sees a good case for management to express greater confidence in or lean to the upper end of the EPS or revenue guide for 2024. With the macro haze fading, Wells believes investors will come away with a greater appreciation of the competitive position and moat.
