Raymond James analyst Steven Li upgraded BlackBerry to Outperform following the launched DTEK 50 this week, a $299 all-touch android with BlackBerry level security, which was not designed by BlackBerry but all the differentiation and security is from its software. The worst-case, the analyst said, DTEK flops and BlackBerry becomes a software only company, or DTEK shows there is a market for a secured version of Android, providing a device that is enterprise ready to Android manufacturers. Li said BlackBerry's narrative is shifting towards software and sees 80% recurring revenues, 15% organic growth, and 30% EBITDA margins. Given the profit growth and profitability profile of software, Li raised BlackBerry's price target to $10.50 from $8.
