Oppenheimer analyst Jason Helfstein says Baidu faced a "challenging" Q2, reporting "disappointing" results and guidance. However, the analyst says the short-term headwinds do not change his long-term view, as Baidu operates a monopoly on search in China, where advertisers have few digital advertising options. Helfstein believes the company's overall financial health remains "strong," allowing Baidu to reinvest in next-generation revenue drivers such as AI, autonomous cars and Cloud. He reiterates an Outperform rating on the shares.
