After Verizon (VZ) reported Q1 total capital spending of $3.67B, below the consensus at $4.28B, Wells Fargo said it believes carrier equipment vendors such as Ciena (CIEN), Cisco (CSCO), CommScope (COMM) and Juniper (JNPR) factored into their forecasts weak U.S. tier-1 spending. Further, Wells views Verizon's reiteration of its full year capex forecast as a positive development. It has Outperform ratings on Ciena, Cisco, CommScope and Juniper.
