JPMorgan analyst Samik Chatterjee previewed the Q2 earnings reports for the Networking Equipment/IT Hardware space. The analyst favors suppliers with greater exposure to service provider customers, as he's increasingly confident of a spending ramp towards 5G preparedness, relative to suppliers with higher than average exposure to either cable customers or cloud customers, where he believes visibility relative to timing of recovery in customer capex remains low. Chatterjee's top picks going into Q2 earnings are Ciena (CIEN), Lumentum (LITE), and Viavi (VIAV). He's cautious on Arista Networks (ANET) and F5 Networks (FFIV) due to "company-specific challenges" relative to the competitive landscape with the entry of VMware (VMW) into the application delivery controllers market.
