Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives initiated Cloudera (CLDR) with a Neutral rating and $17 price target, telling investors that the big question now is trying to decipher the challenges and opportunities that are on the horizon with Cloudera and Hortonworks (HDP) under one roof. He says that the deal brings "clear pitfalls" that must be navigated over the next 12 to 18 months as integrating two similar software organizations from a sales, R&D/product, and cultural perspective will have worrisome integration issues that could derail the long-term strategy and go-to-market success of the combined entity.
