Wedbush analyst Nick Setyan is cautious on Chipotle (CMG) and Starbucks (SBUX) ahead of quarterly results. While the analyst views Chipotle's Q2 comp and margin expectations as realistic, he remains cautious with respect to the 2H18 acceleration in same-store sales growth baked into margin expectations. On Starbucks, while Setyan believes stabilization in U.S. comps in the 2%-3% range is realistic moving forward, he remains cautious regarding management's ability to reaccelerate China comps in the near-term. Without an MSD China run-rate, the analyst believes medium- and long-term EPS growth expectations are at risk. Setyan reiterates a Neutral rating on both stocks.

Bernstein raised the firm's price target on Chipotle to $3,200 from $2,800 and keeps an Outperform rating on the shares. Citing the recent launch of Chicken Al Pastor and momentum in in-store execution, the firm believes that the fundamental setup for 2024 is stronger and updated its same-store sales growth estimate to about 7% for 2024. The firm expects that Chipotle will reach $4M in average unit volume, or AUV, in five to six years, which it notes is ahead of consensus.
