After Bloomberg reported that in response to being approached by a potential acquirer, Salesforce (CRM) has hired bankers, Stifel says that only Oracle (ORCL), Microsoft (MSFT), and possibly Apple (AAPL) could buy salesforce. The firm says that Oracle has many attributes which would enable it to be a suitable buyer, but it adds that Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff would only agree to a merger if Oracle agreed to let him eventually run the combined company. Stifel adds that Salesforce's relationship with Microsoft has gotten much closer over the last 9-12 months. The firm raised its price target on Salesforce to $83 from $79 and keeps a Buy rating on the shares.
