William Blair analyst Jason Ader maintained an Outperform rating on Cisco Systems following its Q4 results, which he says ended the year on a strong note. In a research note to investors, Ader says he remains optimistic on Cisco's business given a global macro environment that continues to look healthy, new products like the Cat 9K and SDWAN that are starting to "move the needle" on growth, and a continued commitment by management to drive shareholder value via buybacks and dividends. The analyst believes that Cisco "could and should" continue to drive more aggressive diversification away from the mature switching and routing markets, and says more acquisitions like Duo Security will help.
