Craig-Hallum analyst Anthony Stoss says that based on checks, he believes Apple (AAPL) no longer plans to include a super-fast USB-C charging cord in the box for the upcoming iPhone launch, and has decided to go with a lower end/cheaper version of USB-C. Apple will only include a slower speed charging cord in the box at launch, he adds. Stoss points out that Cypress Semiconductor (CY) has USB-C content in both, but not including this technology in the box will impact upside to the coming quarters. The analyst is not changing his estimates as he had not factored in much from Apple until he could better handicap the impact from USB-C. He reiterates a Buy rating and $20 price target on Cypress shares.
