Piper Jaffray analyst Troy Jensen upgraded 3D Systems (DDD) to Overweight from Neutral with an unchanged price target of $17. The 3D printer maker closed yesterday up 3c to $11.54. Jensen this morning also upgraded shares of Stratasys (SSYS) to Overweight from Neutral and raised his price target for the shares to $31 from $19. While the analyst's Q4 reseller checks for 3D Systems reported another challenging quarter, he believes direct sales of production systems were strong in Q4. Overall 3D printing demand is improving and the "long-awaited" move to production applications appears to be gaining momentum, Jensen tells investors in a research note. He thinks 3D Systems has an improved product positioning for 2019 and that its launch of the Figure 4 platform and a new metal 3D printer should help reaccelerate product growth throughout 2019 and beyond.
