Morgan Stanley analyst Simeon Gutman believes Dollar General can see margin upside from its new Fresh self-distribution initiative, but he thinks this is underappreciated given limited disclosure from the company. He sees room for as much as 130 basis points of EBIT margin expansion through 2022, which Gutman notes is well above Street estimates. Given the margins and earnings upside he sees being possible over the next 1-3 years, Gutman raised his price target on Dollar General shares to $170 from $155 and keeps an Overweight rating on the stock.
