While the long-term outlook on Family Dollar is "still up for debate," the "timing seems ripe" for the Dollar Tree banner stores to begin testing price points greater than $1, Jefferies analyst Christopher Mandeville tells investors in a research note. The analyst surveyed 1,000 Dollar Tree customers and found that they would welcome the move, assuming improved product assortment and quality in return. While supportive of the change "if done right," based on conversations with industry experts and management comments, the analyst is "skeptical of a whole-hearted adoption." He keeps a Hold rating on Dollar Tree with a $94 price target.
