Cowen said it was reported yesterday that three U.S. polyethylene producers plan to cut prices in September. The firm said a 4c/lb cut is likely and expects the rest of the industry to follow. Cowen said the news is consistent with its expectations and views it as a risk to producers Dow Chemical (DOW), LyondellBasell (LYB), and Westlake Chemical (WLK).
