Piper Jaffray analyst Michael Olson points out that August NPD video game software sales declined 10% year-over-year amid a tough comparison to the launch of a console version of Activision's (ATVI) Diablo III and down sales for Electronic Arts' (EA) Madden NFL 16 relative to the prior iteration. Next generation hardware sales are now large enough to drive sustainable software growth, however, Olson tells investors in a research note. The analyst keeps Overweight ratings on Activision, Electronic Arts, GameStop (GME) and Take-Two (TTWO).
