After Elliot Management announced that it now owns about 4% of eBay shares and released an "Enhancing eBay Plan" and The Wall Street Journal reported that Starboard Value has built a large position as well, SunTrust analyst Youssef Squali said he is not surprised to see activists take a strong interest, noting that this was one of his Top 5 2019 predictions. Squali, who said he has long held a belief that there is an opportunity to spin-off assets to enhance shareholder value at eBay, keeps a Hold rating and $33 price target on the stock as he waits to see the board's reception to Elliot's plan.
