Northland analyst Tim Savgeaux upgraded Emcore to Outperform with a $6.25 price target following last night's positive Q4 pre-announcement. The analyst expects a recovery in CATV optics and strength in defense following recent contract announcements, saying both drivers are sustainable, and sees strength in telecom laser chips and 4/5G wireless DAS opportunities. Savgeaux said the optical component sector continues to consolidate and continues to view Emcore as an attractive acquisition candidate.
