After EOG agreed to buy privately owned Yates Petroleum, Bernstein analyst Bob Brackett says the deal is positive. The acreage of Yates and EOG "have significant overlap," while there is "clear evidence that EOG can operate the assets more efficiently than Yates," according to Brackett. He expects EOG to benefit from the added scale, and keeps an Outperform rating on the shares.
