Craig-Hallum analyst Bill Bonello points out that the National Committee for Quality Assurance indicated it is holding a public comment period related to its 2017 Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set colorectal cancer screening measure. NCQA specifically proposes to update the screening methods included in the colorectal cancer screening measure "to align with recommendations in the 2016 US Preventative Services Task Force Recommendation Statement on Screening for Colorectal Cancer," Bonello tells investors in a research note. While no specific test was mentioned, Exact Sciences' Cologuard and virtual colonoscopy are the two new screening methodologies referenced by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force in its final recommendation published in June, he notes. The analyst believes the NCQA's review bodes well for Cologuard inclusion and adoption. Bonello reiterates a Buy rating on Exact with an $18 price target.
