Piper Jaffray analyst Troy Jensen recommends buying shares of Finisar ahead of the company's October quarter results on December 8. The analyst expects the results to be driven by robust demand for 100G Datacom and Telecom optics as well as better than expected demand for 40G datacom transceivers. Jensen views consensus estimates for the company's 2017 as "extremely conservative" and sees meaningful estimate revisions as the 100G upgrade cycle ramps throughout the year. The analyst reiterates an Overweight rating on Finisar with a $38 price target.
