Changes the new Finisar CEO is making will improve the cost structure and 2019 could be an "interesting year" if the company executes in 3D sensing and 400G, Piper Jaffray analyst Troy Jensen tells investors in a research note. As such, the analyst is "incrementally more positive on the Finisar story." He also believes the core optical market is experiencing a modest recovery and that a more meaningful inflection will likely be in 2019. However, Jensen thinks near-term cost cuts and a modest recovery in optics are not enough to get the stock moving. The analyst keeps a Neutral rating on Finisar with an $18 price target.
