FBR Capital says its analysis of 8point3, the planned joint Yield Co. between First Solar (FSLR) and SunPower (SPWR), suggests it could create about $5-$15 of incremental value to First Solar shares, resulting in a potential stock price close to $70. FBR believes 8point3 should trade at a discount to industry leaders TerraForm (TERP), NRG Yield (NYLD) and NextEra Energy Partners (NEP). It believes the joint Yield Co. will likely come with more challenges than the existing single-sponsor Yield Cos. and keeps a Market Perform rating on First Solar with a $55 price target. It adds, however, that shares could be worth $80 in a "blue sky scenario."
