As previously reported, DA Davidson analyst Andrew Nowinski initiated coverage of Fortinet (FTNT) with a Buy rating and $130 price target. The analyst believes that the company can continue gaining network firewall market share at the expense of Check Point (CHKP) and Cisco (CSCO), while its "newly improved" NP7 chip should yield a strong refresh cycle in 2020. Nowinski is also positive on Fortinet's position in the move to the cloud, with related products already accounting about 25% of its total revenue while growing "at least" 40% annualized.

BofA analyst Tal Liani upgraded Cisco to Buy from Neutral with a price target of $60, up from $55. The analyst sees three catalysts for growth acceleration: networking to normalize and see renewed growth driven by share gains, security growth to accelerate with the help of firewall stabilization and new product launches, and growth synergies from the Splunk acquisition. While Cisco's next two quarters will remain pressured, this weakness is fully reflected in Street expectations, the analyst tells investors in a research note.
