As previously reported before the open, Scotiabank analyst Patricia Baker upgraded Gildan Activewear to Outperform from Sector Perform with a $31 price target. With its Back to Basics strategy, she sees the company being able to better leverage its core competency in textile manufacturing and believes the company will be able to simplify its product portfolio, leverage distributor capabilities, and drive manufacturing cost advantage, in turn driving improved gross margin, lower SG&A costs, and better return on assets. She also notes that the shares are down 31% over the last 12 months and now trade at a trough valuation.
