Deutsche Bank analyst Chris Snyder initiated a "Catalyst Call Buy" on shares of Halliburton (HAL), paired against Patterson-UTI (PTEN), a stock he has a Sell rating on. The U.S. completions market, where Halliburton is the industry leader, has bottomed, and incremental data points will point to tightening industry fundamentals, Snyder tells investors in a research note. The U.S. pressure-pumping market has realized up to 20% attrition in 2019, and there's opportunity for further retirements over the near term as companies head into year-end equipment reviews, adds the analyst.
