Oppenheimer analyst Ittai Kidron views HP Enterprise's (HPE) acquisition of SimpliVity as a positive for the former, strengthening its competitive position in the hyperconverged market and helping it defend its server footprint. Further, the analyst believes the acquisition could place increasing pressure on Cisco (CSCO) to take action given its limited progress thus far with its hyperconverged offering. As for hyperconverged leader Nutanix (NTNX), while the acquisition could raise competitive pressures longer-term, it also validates the vast opportunity and the incumbents' poor performance thus far, he adds.
