BofA/Merrill analyst Timna Tanners upgraded Helmerich & Payne to Buy and lowered its price target to $79 from $89 saying he expects land rig pricing power to improve due to increasing US land rig count and increased E&P capex plans. Tanners said new super-spec" rigs are in high demand as operators look to optimize pad drilling with pricing power already rising to the low-to-mid $20K/day range, above October's trough of $14-$16K/day. The analyst said Helmerich is very well positioned in the super-spec market and shares offer a compelling entry point.
