Piper Jaffray analyst William Quirk points out that the China Daily publication announced China has launched a precision medicine initiative with the program receiving $9.2B in total government funding by 2030. The program will utilize genomics to develop targeted diagnostics and treatments and will focus on cardiovascular disease, diabetes and selected cancers, Quirk tells investors in a research note. He views China's program as a positive for Illumina's sequencing consumables and keeps an Overweight rating on the shares with a $204 price target.
