Wells Fargo analyst David Maris said he would like to know more about Sarissa Capital's thoughts on paths for value creation at Ironwood, but his initial reaction, noting Alex Denner's track record for value creation with other firms, is positive. Maris adds that he like management's direction. However, the market does not seem to be embracing the company's "multi-prong strategy" of having several early-stage pipeline programs as well as the Linzess commercial franchise, so perhaps a new board member can help the company unlock value. He keeps an Outperform rating and $18 price target on Ironwood shares, but noted that his target does not factor in a potential acquisition premium.
