Oppenheimer analyst Rick Schafer does not expect regulatory hurdles to impede the close of Intersil acquisition by Renesas in the first half of 2017 given limited overlap and Intersil's relative size/end market exposure. The analyst adds that he sees the strategic rationale from Renesas' standpoint of combining its logic portfolio and automotive expertise with Intersil's analog and power products. Further, he believes Intersil shareholders should be pleased with the deal. Oppenheimer has a Perform rating on Intersil's shares.
